The Main Activities where we require workers to help on our Raspberry farm are;
Piece rates (or per punnet rates) are calculated by reviewing the productivity of the pickers across the farm, to ensure that a competent and trained picker can obtain rates of pay 15% above the hourly rate (under the Australian Fairwork Horticultural award). This is converted into a “per punnet” rate and encourages picking efficiency.
Rainberry wants their workers to realise their earning and productivity potential and will run in-field training and ongoing support to ensure success. We desire a team of people who like to work efficiently, take care of the fruit and can contribute to a positive working farm environment.
What is Farm work like @ Rainberry?
a) Picking work is completed mostly under a poly tunnel, meaning that exposure to the sun is minimised.
b) Fortunately, raspberries grow between 20cm and up to approximately 2 metres off the ground. There is no heavy lifting, however some reaching is required, with soft and nimble fingers!
c) During the picking season, we will do our best to allocate as many hours work as you desire (and are available). A typical week is 35-45 hours.
d) We will help direct you to suitable low cost accommodation in the area (we are regional) and communicate regularly to help with your planning needs. If you don’t have a car, we will try to support with other people and suggest options here too.
e) We will hold regular barbeques (BBQs) to ensure people have a chance to get to know each other and can take a break to reset.
f) It also helps if you like eating raspberries!! (but seriously, who doesn’t?!)
Visa requirements:
You must hold a valid visa for working in Australia. We can sign off on 2nd/ 3rd year visas.
